Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel “Dan” Francis Ausum, who left this world on September 15, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on April 3, 1956, in Lapeer, Michigan, Dan spent his final days surrounded by loved ones in Fenton, Michigan.
Dan was a man whose spirit and laughter touched everyone he met. He worked in sales within the automotive industry, where his charm and gift of gab made him a natural. His colleagues and clients alike were drawn to his charismatic personality and infectious humor.
Outside of work, Dan’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. He was an avid golfer, spending countless joyful hours on the course with his league friends. His love for the water was equally profound; in his younger days, he was known to water ski barefoot, a testament to his adventurous spirit.
Dan’s sense of humor was legendary. He had a knack for making people laugh, and those who knew him often remarked that he could have found success as a stand-up comedian. His laughter was a gift he shared freely, brightening the lives of all who knew him.
Above all, Dan cherished his role as an uncle. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews, who adored him for his warmth, humor, and unwavering support. His family was his pride and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Ausum and Alice Ausum-Fisher, his brother Jim Ausum, and his beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Spencer. He is survived by his loving siblings Toni (Dal Fear) Ausum, Steve (Deb Gura) Ausum, and Julianne (James) Fenhagen. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces Alexis Bailey and Dr. Alena Fear, favorite nephews Gregory Fear and Aaron (Em) Fenhagen, great-nephew Ronen Bailey, great-niece Eva Bailey, and numerous adoring cousins.
Though Dan has left the fairway of life, his laughter echoes on, reminding us all to find joy in every moment and never take ourselves too seriously. Rest easy, Dan-you’ve earned it.
