Michael Aquilina, born April 12, 1949, in Detroit, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Livonia at the age of 76.
Michael was a cherished family man who found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. His life was marked by dedication and service, as evidenced by his membership in the VFW, Moose, and American Legion. A proud recipient of the Purple Heart from his service in Vietnam, Michael exemplified courage and commitment to his country, and went on to become a Detroit Police Officer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Christino and Violet Aquilina; his brothers, Charlie and Joey; and his son, Roy.
Michael's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his children, Ross (Shelene Lewis) Aquilina, Alicia (Brennan) Redwood, and Michael (Monica) Aquilina; his grandchildren, Zachary, Sophia, Reece, and Maxwell; and his siblings, Chris (Sandy), George (Nancy), Grace, and Lawrence (Veronica), Marie (Gollo) Additionally, he leaves behind a multitude of dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or the Detroit Public Safety Foundation, an organization that aligns with Michael’s spirit of service and dedication to those who have bravely served their country.
