Obituary

Robert (Bob) Charles Brown, 71, of Brownstown, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, with his rosary in hand.

Born June 19, 1955, in Dowagiac, Michigan, to Charles and Paula Brown, Bob a life defined by service, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Bob dedicated nearly 40 years to law enforcement, beginning his career with the Michigan State Police. He spent much of his career with the Romulus Police Department, serving as Lieutenant and briefly as Chief of Police. He concluded his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Mason County.

Outside of his career, Bob enjoyed a good western, especially Gunsmoke, a cold beer, poker with friends, golf, cooking, grilling, and music. A passionate Detroit sports fan, he proudly cheered on the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings through every victory and heartbreak. Known for his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and mischievous spirit, Bob never met a stranger and could turn even the simplest moments into unforgettable memories.

Above all, Bob loved his family fiercely. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Paula Brown. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnn Brown; his children, Jason (Marianne) Bowker and Jessica Webb; his grandchildren, Ethan (Jordyn) Heinrich, Isobel Bowker, Matt Bowker, and Miles Bowker; his great-grandchildren, Lucas Heinrich and Arabella Heinrich; and his siblings, Donna Spenner, Ron Brown, and Jeff Brown.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
