Woneta Mae Britz, born on August 9, 1964, in Dearborn, Michigan, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Burton, Michigan, at the age of 61.
Woneta was a woman of many passions and talents, whose life was richly filled with love and joy. She had a deep appreciation for nature and relished camping trips to destinations such as Yellowstone, Niagara Falls, Gettysburg, and various sites across Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, and her cherished home state of Michigan.
Her love for reading was matched by her skill and dedication to cross-stitching; her stunningly detailed creations often resembled fine paintings. A devoted movie enthusiast, she particularly treasured "Pride and Prejudice," and cherished movie nights with her daughters, sharing popcorn and laughter.
It was at a bowling alley that she met the love of her life, Gary Britz. They shared a passion for bowling, and their partnership blossomed into a union that lasted nearly four decades. Known lovingly by Gary as "Sweet Cheeks," Woneta and Gary enjoyed 39 years together, including 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Family was always at the heart of Woneta's world. She adored her children, Kerri (Jeff) Rayl, Amelia Hardoin, and Caitlyn (Ryan) Ducharme, and was a doting grandmother to Mackenzie, Felicity, Evelyn, Aiden, Audrey, Isaac, Austen, Zachary, and Kira. Her garden was an extension of her nurturing spirit, and she took great pride in her cooking, recently anticipating the canning of peaches she grew herself.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lorretta Zimmerman, Woneta leaves behind a loving family including her husband Gary; her children and grandchildren; her siblings Pam, Carrie (Gabe), Chuck (Carolyn), and Ed (Nicole); along with her furbabies Copper and Aspen. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to Debbie and Ron Whalen and their daughters Jessica and Rebecca.
Woneta’s warmth, kindness, and creativity touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends
