Obituary

Donna Lynne Collins, born on November 3, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 13, 2026, in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, at the age of 64. Her life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her.

Donna's journey began as a steward at Johnson Controls, where she discovered her passion for advocacy and workers' rights. Her dedication led her to become a field representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW), where she tirelessly championed the voices of her colleagues. As a proud Democrat, she was deeply involved in politics, always striving to ensure that everyone felt heard and valued.

Her role as Vice President of the Ladie’s Auxiliary Fairlane Eagles was a testament to her leadership and community spirit. Donna's love for children and her family-oriented nature were evident in every aspect of her life. She had an extraordinary ability to remember birthdays and always had a thoughtful gift ready, making everyone feel like part of her extended family.

As the eldest of four siblings, Donna was a nurturing presence, not only to her siblings but to many others who saw her as a mother figure. Her quick wit and love for reading brought joy and laughter to those around her. She cherished golfing with her mother, Helen, and her work travels allowed her to explore new places while advocating for the causes she held dear.

Donna is preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Collins; significant other, Ray Randolph; parents, Edward and Helen Collins; sister, Angela Collins; and many cherished aunts and uncles. She leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings Eileen (James) DeLaHaye, Sean Collins, and Joe (Tammy) Collins; nieces and nephews Kelly (Gary) Blanks, Chelsea (Ronnie) Pluszczynski, Megan (Chris) Brabaw, Jake (Kentice) DeLaHaye, Samantha Collins, Shames (Crystal) DeLaHaye, Cheyenne (Jack) Wright, Brittany Collins, Brooke (Kenneth) Sizeland, and Angela (Ryan) Ray; great-nieces and nephews Colleen, Julia, Emma, Kristin, Ethan, Lyla, Penelope, Wade, Athena, Leo, Amelia, Liam, Annabelle, and Rylee; as well as her aunt Norma Hulme and uncle Leonard Brilinski.

  • I had the privilege to have worked with Donna and learned a lot from her. Outside of work, she became a great friend and someone I could talk to, cry with and vent to. Donna was always willing to help, listen, or tell you a funny story so you could smile. I’m going to miss talking to her on my long drives home. I’ll forever remember our funny conversations about her experiences and mine. I still remember how you told me that you loved the song “Some kind of Wonderful”. And you were Donna, some kind of wonderful. María Sanchez
  • I was assigned to Bloomington Illinois for my very first organizing drive. That is where I met Miss Donna Collins. She was appointed by our former IUAW president Ray Curry. Donna had a way with words. She never mixed them. Blunt honesty, She also had a way of getting her point across without saying a single syllable. Anyone that knows Donna knows what side of history she falls on. She’s not only a leader within our union. She was a leader within her community, A defender of democracy, and social justice advocate. We shared not only similar values as women, but we also shared the same birthday. I will miss my Scorpio sister. May she rest in power my sincere condolences to everyone morning our loss. In Solidarity forever.. Amy Minich
