Obituary
Albert Sheldon Fickel, of Southgate, born on February 26, 1939, in Riverview, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Wyandotte, Michigan, at the age of 86.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Albert was a man whose kindness touched the lives of many. For 65 wonderful years, he shared his life with Barbara Fickel, the love of his life whom he met while they were both working at a bank. Together, they built a loving family and shared countless cherished memories.
Albert is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his children Keith (Debra) Fickel, Doreen Fickel, and Gary Fickel; and his grandchildren Michael (Kristen), Matthew (Amber), Brittany (Aaron), Jennifer (Jon), and Garrett (Shelby). He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Riley, Mason, Michael, Oakley, J.J., and Grayson. Preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, Albert is now reunited with her in eternal rest.
A man of simple pleasures, Albert lived his life one White Castle at a time, with a fondness for chocolate and cold coffee that never waned. He was a passionate sports enthusiast, cheering fervently for his beloved Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings. His love for the great outdoors often took him "up north" to St. Helen, where he found peace and joy. He also enjoyed visiting Frankenmuth, Michigan with his beloved wife where they would go to Bronner’s and enjoy the wonders of this Germanic town.
Albert's compassion extended beyond his family and friends; he was a true animal lover and would offer help to anyone in need, always with a generous heart. Those who knew him will remember him as the kindest man they ever met, a testament to his enduring legacy of warmth and kindness.
Albert Sheldon Fickel's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
