Obituary

Aurore Marie Farrand, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on April 5, 2025, in LaSalle, Michigan, at the age of 84. Born on August 14, 1940, in River Rouge, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rodolphe and Annette Racette.

Aurore's life was marked by her dedication to family, work, and a multitude of interests that brought joy to those around her. She was an exceptional Accounting Specialist, admired for her precision and commitment. Beyond her professional achievements, Aurore excelled in many passions. An extraordinary cook, she loved sewing, reading, and especially enjoyed cheering for U of M football. Her love for canning, baking, knitting, and gardening was evident in the vibrant flowers she tended to with care.

A true lover of animals, Aurore found solace in the companionship of her furry friends, Karma and Darwin. She treasured camping trips to Texas and cherished moments spent with her devoted husband of over 63 years, William R. Farrand, Sr., whom she married on September 9, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockwood. Together, they raised a beautiful family, creating memories that will be forever cherished.

Preceded in death by her parents and siblings—Richard, James, Larry, and Cecilia Racette—Aurore leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy. She is survived by her brother, Lee (Sue) Racette), her husband, William R. Farrand, Sr.; her children: William R. (Lynne) Farrand, Jr., James (Tammy) Farrand, John (Lila Rawley) Farrand, Joseph Farrand, Jeffrey (Debi) Farrand, Renee (Jeff) Carroll, Jeremy (Mark) Farrand, Jerrod (Heather) Farrand, Sr., and Robyn (Steven) Foisy. Aurore's legacy extends to her 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

The family will receive friends during visitations at the following times: Wednesday, April 9, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Thursday, April 10, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary service at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, with instate at 10:00 AM and Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockwood, Michigan. Interment will follow in Michigan Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting Aurore's compassionate spirit and desire to help others.

Aurore Marie Farrand’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
