Obituary
Carole Ann Frazer, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home on August 11, 2026, in Dexter, Michigan.
Born October 9, 1942, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Orneta and Donald Sutherland, she completed her primary education at St. Stephen Catholic School and later graduated from Romulus High School in 1960. She married James Frazer, her lifelong partner, on November 12, 1960, and they raised three children together.
Carole embraced many passions and talents throughout her life. First and foremost was her love of family, as her focus in life was her husband, children, mother, and grandchildren. Her appreciation of architecture and homes led her to employment as a real estate agent in Washtenaw County, where she enjoyed helping clients find their perfect home. Her artistic spirit shone brightly in her paintings and creative endeavors. A gifted musician, she found immense personal enjoyment playing the piano and cello. She found great delight in decorating spaces with beauty and grace, especially during the Christmas season. Halloween was another special time for Carole, as she loved crafting imaginative costumes for her family and friends.
Carole’s love for literature was evident in her expansive book collection, ranging from classics to biographies, including an abundant Kennedy collection, and later in life, her spiritual Guide Post magazines. Animals were also at the forefront in Carole’s home, and birdwatching was one of her cherished pastimes. She particularly looked forward to the return of the orioles that would frequent their feeder every spring and cardinals in the winter, finding peace and joy in their presence. Maps fascinated her, reflecting her keen interest in geography and keeping up with family travels. One of her favorite life experiences was traveling to Scotland, where she researched her genealogy while treasuring the beautiful landscapes of the countryside. Carole also had a fondness for classic movies and took great pleasure in following the lives of the British royal family. Carole’s faith was an integral part of her life, offering her strength and guidance throughout her years. St. Stephen Catholic Church held a special place in Carole’s heart, as she celebrated school occasions, her marriage, and baptisms.
Carole is preceded in death by her mother, Orneta Quigley; her father, Donald Sutherland; her stepfather, James Quigley Sr.; and her brother, James Quigley Jr.
Carole's memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, James Lawrence Frazer; her loving children, Jayne Lyn (Jim) Porter, Jamie Lawrence Frazer, and Jacqueline Lee Frazer (John Eriksen); her treasured grandchildren, Olivia Aine Eriksen and Alexandra Birgit Eriksen; and her dear sister, Bonnie Lou Lesniewicz.
Carole will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and passion for life will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
