GRAYBIEL, Grace J., age 92, born May 10, 1929 in Lonoke, Arkansas, passed away April 10, 2022 in Monroe, Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Graybiel. Loving mother of Larry (Renee) Bender, Bruce (Betsy) Bender, Lee (Shari) Graybiel, Lisa (Carl) Hosner and daughter-in-law Kathy Slagen. Dear grandmother of Melanie (Nick), Michael, Joshua, Ben, Andrew (Alece), Lindsay, Emily, Corey, Lauren, Jaclyn, Lillian, Lauren and Taylor. Dearest great grandmother of Ayden, Ava, Augustus, Tucker, Ayden and Delilah. She was also survived by her dear friend and companion Ken Heller. Grace went to Bryant High School and participated in basketball. Later in life when she married Gordon her golf career began, she was a seven-time winner of the Woman’s Golf Championship for Pine Lake C.C. at this time she often housed traveling professional women golfers. She traveled abroad and played at numerous golf courses including St. Andrews in Scotland. Later in life she scored a hole in one while living on the Raintree golf course in North Carolina. An avid sports fan that followed golf tournaments, U of M football and many college and pro-teams. She enjoyed holidays and family gatherings and often had a margarita in hand. She was a proud “Mimi” and always took an interest in her grandchildren’s lives. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Charles Bender and her son Mark Bender. Her cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Please meet at the main chapel at Michigan Memorial Park.
