Obituary

Sandra Ann Graham passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at Calvary Hospice Center in New York City.  Born on March 12, 1942, in Montgomery, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of Michael Thomas and Anna Ruth Johnson.

Sandra graduated from Lincoln Park High School in Michigan and pursued her passion for healthcare by training at Wyandotte General Hospital to become a Respiratory Therapist.  She went on to dedicate over 20 years to caring for others at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.

Later, Sandra followed her creative spirit into the world of public relations and fashion.  She began her journey with small boutiques and local cable shows and eventually founded her own PR firm, Graham Communications.  Her talent and impeccable eye for style led her to collaborate with designers, coordinate runway models, and work with celebrities on the red carpet - locally, nationally, and internationally.  Sandra was a true fashionista, admired for her sophistication, creativity, and her gift for inspiring confidence in others.

A proud resident of Manhattan, Sandra embraced the city's vibrant culture - the arts, music, cuisine, fashion, diversity, and its iconic landmarks.  She was and active member of Marble Collegiate Church, where she found spiritual strength and fellowship through worship and Bible study groups.  Sandra was also an avid traveler and a devoted animal lover, especially to her beloved dog, Jack.

Sandra will be remembered for the beauty she brought into the world through her passionate nature for fashion and her creative style, she uplifted others with encouragement, advice, her fun-loving spirit, and her unwavering love for animals - especially senior dogs in need of care and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Arthur Caliandro; her great-granddaughter, Alexis Gorham Bajcz; her parents; and her sister, Jane Sherberg.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Rebecca (Gerald) Cox, Catherine Milot, Jayne Michelle Gorham, and Matthew Graham; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her brother, James Michael (Debra) Johnson; and a wide circle of dear friends and colleagues.

In accordance with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 1:30 PM.  She will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's memory may be made to two causes close to her heart:

Sandra's light, love, and style will live on in all who knew her.
