Obituary

William Wayland Gregorich, born December 8, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 7, 2026, in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 67.

William was a man of many passions and a heart full of love. He found joy in playing the guitar, often filling his home with music. His enthusiasm for collecting Hot Wheels cars brought him much happiness, and he was known to spend countless hours restoring old cars, breathing new life into classic vehicles. William also cherished his time spent relaxing in his hot tub, a simple pleasure he held dear.

His love for dogs was well-known, and no dog was more special to him than his beloved companion, Ziggy, who was always by his side.

William is preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Carol. He leaves behind a family who dearly loved him, including his siblings, Gary (Judy) Shellenbarger and Karen Mitchell. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Melisa (Rob) Kolling, Erik (Kim) Shellenbarger, Jennifer (Andy) Mullett, Tara (Ryan) Parker, and Jamison (Sara) Mitchell.

William will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations in William's memory may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.

  • I have known Billy since he was just a little boy. He had the most innocent boyish face and always had a smile. I am so sorry for your loss but I am sure he was met with open arms as he entered the gates of Heaven. Rest if Peace Billy~ Sue and Don Roberts William Gregorich

  • As his Virginia family, I was very fortunate to have been with "Billy" (to me) day's prior to his passing. Will be immensely missed but not forgotten. RIP "Billy" I love you Steve Putnam
  • So sorry to hear such sad news. I grew up with William in the neighborhood and always remember our last memory and collaboration of him playing his rendition of "Carry on my wayward son" on guitar at our Truman High Senior Variety Show at in 1977. Lost track of him over the many years since graduation, but still he remains in my memory of many good times shared together. Prayers to his family and survivors. Rest in Peace Bill. J. Browne
