  • I had the opportunity to meet Barbara Heston some 40+ years ago through PIAA (Prearranged Interment Association of America). In the male dominated cemetery profession of the time, Barbara was a standout, one of the few, if only, women in the country running a large cemetery. From my perspective, she shattered the glass ceiling in the cemetery profession and her success earned her the respect of all. Her high standards and achievements left an indelible, positive mark on the end-of-life care profession. Her daughters, Kelly and Heidi, have continued her legacy, something that must have been a tremendous source of pride for their mother. Respectfully, Ernie Heffner
