Obituary
David Edmund Hervey, born on March 2, 1940, in River Rouge, Michigan, entered into eternal life on May 15, 2026, in Monroe, Michigan, at the age of 86.
David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Known for his love of golf and his infectious joy, David enjoyed watching Detroit, Michigan, and Florida sports teams and playing poker on his iPad in his spare time. He also had a unique sense of humor and loved spending evenings playing cards and sharing dinner with friends and family. David also served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1966 from which he was honorably discharged. He was a proud Veteran.
He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones and often orchestrated memorable family trips to Disney, where he reveled in the laughter and happiness of those around him. To David, family meant everything, and he embraced all who crossed his path as part of his extended family.
David is preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Hervey, parents Robert and Amy Hervey, and his siblings: Bob (Lois) Hervey, Mary “Chick” (Al) Fratrick, Paul (Mary) Hervey, John Hervey, Sylvia (Larry) Creech and Ray (Tricia) Hervey, and grandson Jeffrey Hervey.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Hervey. His legacy lives on through his children: Bill (Nikki) Hervey, Colleen (Kevin) Lewis, David (Suzi) Hervey, Tammy (Tom) Vitalis, Doug Hervey, Jeff (Elfi) Hervey, Mike (Karan) Hervey, and Tom (Julianne) Hervey. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Alex Hervey, Michael Hervey, Jack Lewis, Nora Lewis, Ben (Zoe) Hervey, Emma Hervey, Sara (Derek) Harter, Emily (James) Vantassel, Austin Hervey, Alexandra (Nick) Shoemaker, Chris (Krystal) Hervey, Nick Hervey, Amanda Hervey, Meghan (Keegan) Jahnke, Jessica (Kyler) Jacobs, Rachel (Jacob) Heaps, Kate Hervey, and Lindsey (Kyle) Cole. His great-grandchildren, Melanie, Matthew, Jimmy, Samantha, Joey, Stella, Bronson, Nora, Logan, Jace, Harrison, Jhett, Ivy and Malcom will carry on the joyful spirit and love he so generously shared.
David's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come.
