Obituary

Gene Dennis Imperati, born on October 5, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Romulus, Michigan, at the age of 79. Gene was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His life was marked by his unwavering commitment to those he loved and the passions he pursued.

Gene proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, embodying the values of honor and duty. Following his service, he embarked on a distinguished career as an engineer with the Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.

A man of varied interests, Gene found great joy in the game of golf. He also enjoyed bowling. A lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, he was also an avid collector of baseball cards. Known for his direct and outspoken nature, Gene was equally recognized for his friendliness, generosity, and charitable spirit.

Gene was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Henry's Men's Club, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to his community. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through both triumphs and challenges.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, Myra Imperati, and his parents, Gino and Clarice Imperati, Gene leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his children, Christopher (Karen) Imperati and Bethany (Paul) Kesteloot; his grandchildren, Brandon Imperati, Kassidy Imperati, Hunter Imperati, Anthony Kesteloot, and Annika Kesteloot; and his great-granddaughter, Charli. He will also be dearly missed by numerous family members and friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church in New Boston on September 11, 2026, with Instate at 10:30 AM and Mass at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gene's name to the Penrickton Center for the Blind, honoring his legacy of giving and compassion.
