Carmelita "Amy" Martinez Joquico, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Rochester, Michigan, at the age of 79. Born on February 9, 1946, in Tarlac, Philippines, Amy's life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and warmth.
Amy embarked on her professional journey as a Registered Nurse, a career that perfectly aligned with her innate desire to care for others. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to healing touched countless lives throughout her years of service.
In 1970, fate reunited Amy with her childhood sweetheart, Antonio Joquico, after both had moved to the United States. Their love blossomed anew, leading to a beautiful marriage that spanned 55 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, nurturing two sons, Anthony (Angie) Joquico and Justin (Sarah) Joquico.
Known for her exceptional culinary skills, Amy relished the opportunity to fill the hearts and stomachs of everyone who entered her home. Whether it was a hearty meal or a warm drink, she was always eager to share her hospitality and ensure everyone felt welcome and cherished. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, making all who knew her feel like part of her extended family.
Amy's kindness was legendary. She was a gentle soul who doted on those around her, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren: Alyssa, Katie, Maddie, Shaun, and Leland. She took great joy in attending their milestones and showering them with affection.
A unique bond was shared between Amy and Antonio, who both enjoyed spending leisurely afternoons at the casino, where laughter and luck were shared in equal measure.
Preceded in death by her parents, Anselmo and Anselma Martinez, and her five siblings, Amy's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who survive her. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Antonio; her children and their spouses, Anthony (Angie) and Justin (Sarah); her cherished grandchildren; and her dear sister, Lolita (Dennis) Reupke.
Amy's legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will be forever treasured, and her impact fondly remembered by her family and friends.
