Richard "Lanny" Kalisieski, a cherished husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 78 in Taylor, Michigan. Born on March 12, 1947, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Lanny touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and warm heart.
Lanny spent nearly 25 years married to the love of his life, Marcia Kalisieski, whom he met at the Lincoln Park Moose Lodge. Together, they shared countless adventures, traveling across the country and beyond. Their journeys led them over 5,200 miles out west, to the picturesque beauty of Mackinac Island where they stayed at the Grand Hotel (completing one of their many bucket list items), and further afield to the Caribbean. Mackinaw was their beloved home away from home, and wherever Lanny went, he was warmly recognized and embraced by those who knew him.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Lanny's passion for baseball began early. He was an exceptional hardball pitcher in high school, and his love for the sport continued throughout his life becoming a pitcher in the MMA. A loyal supporter of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, Lanny lived and breathed sports. He found joy in playing golf, relishing the time spent on the course breathing in the fresh air in the company of his friends.
Lanny was also an avid card player, often found enjoying a game of Euchre with his Moose friends. Many evenings were spent at the casino, where he reveled in the excitement of gambling. A true people person, Lanny was known for his infectious laughter and the camaraderie he shared over beers with his buddies. He poured his heart and soul into his involvement with the Moose, making lifelong friendships along the way.
Lanny dedicated much of his life to the Moose, where he was a lifetime member, Past State President, and Secretary of the MMA. He also served as the Administrator for LP Moose and as District 2 President. His heart and soul were deeply connected to this community. With his Moose friends, Lanny found joy in fishing and playing pool, activities that brought laughter and camaraderie into his days.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Roberta Kalisieski, and his brother, John Kalisieski, Lanny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family. He is survived by his devoted wife Marcia; his step-children Sarah (Amos) Shirato and Billy Bowden; and his beloved grandchildren Ev, Aiko, and Ida. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Jane (Gordon) Osman, and sister-in-law, Gloria Kalisieski. His memory will forever be cherished by his niece and nephew, Katie (Matthew) Reed and Matthew Kalisieski, and his many great-nieces and nephews. Lanny's furbabies, Cleo, Harmony, Archie, and Reggie, will miss his gentle touch and loving care.
Richard "Lanny" Kalisieski will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and friendship remains in the hearts of all who loved him.
