Obituary
Daisy (Yerman) Lovain, 84, of Garden City, Michigan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on May 15, 2026. She was born March 10, 1942, to the late Joseph and Daisy (Tepsich) Yerman in Dearborn, Michigan and was the youngest child of their family. She is survived by her brother Joseph Yerman, three sons - Matthew Kuligowski (Mary), Frank Kuligowski (Lucy) and Craig Kuligowski (Mary) from her first marriage, as well as four grandchildren – Michael Kuligowski, Peyton Daudier (Jean), Madeline Lewis (Desmond), Maximos Kuligowski and a great-granddaughter, Giana Daudier. She was predeceased in death by her older sister Evelyn Kachadoorian, her first husband Richard Kuligowski, and her companion of many years, Dave Tinder. Daisy’s body will be cremated and interred alongside her sister in the Lighthouse Niche overlooking the Huron River at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
Daisy grew up on her family’s farm on Fordson Island on the River Rouge in Dearborn, where her father grew fruit trees and grapes, and she attended Fordson High School. A point of pride in her life was that she had the island’s first telephone service installed to their house when she was only a teenager. Her professional life began as a switchboard operator for Sam’s Department Store and moved through administrative positions at various firms before being hired by Michigan Bell as one of their first female telephone repair-technicians, retiring from Ma Bell as a service representative after over 30 years of work. During retirement she volunteered at the Dearborn Historical Museum, traveled throughout Michigan and the southeast US, was a prodigious and prolific knitter, and enjoyed gardening in her yard. Daisy was also the family genealogist, researching much of her family’s history, which she leaves as part of her legacy.
A memorial service will be held at Michigan Memorial Park on May 30, 2026 from 1:00PM – 3:30 PM. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Friends of the Rouge, or simply planting daisies in her memory!
