Joyce Yvonne Lawrence, aged 87, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Wayne, Michigan at her son and daughter-in-law’s home. Born on August 5, 1939, in Monroe, Michigan, Joyce lived a life full of warmth and dedication to her family, her community, and her passions.
Joyce was a beloved member of the Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church, where she dedicated much of her time throughout her life. Known for her generosity, she volunteered at her church food pantry, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her love for crafts shone brightly as she enjoyed selling her creations at church functions, often filling the room with her vibrant and joyful spirit.
A devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers, Joyce had a passion for baseball. She meticulously kept stats of the games by listening to the radio. Her hobbies were many and varied, including quilting, bowling, and the occasional adventure to the casino, where she enjoyed playing slots. Joyce also found great joy in baking and she loved shopping for the supplies needed to create her many cherished crafts.
Her kindness and helpful nature left a lasting impression on her friends and family, who cherished her for her unwavering support and compassion.
Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Lawrence, her parents, Homer and Harriet Dixon, her brothers, Harry and Gerald, and her sister, Connie. She is survived by her loving children, Cheryl Lawrence and Gary (Natividad) Lawrence, her cherished sister, Linda, and her faithful Havanese dog, Kiwi.
The legacy Joyce leaves behind is one of love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
