She is survived by her husband Louis Martinez and her children from a previous marriage (Rex Schmeler), Donna (Brian) Wiegand, Robert (Tim) Schmeler-Fleck and her stepchildren, Virginia, Vincent (Rosemary), Vernon (Sally), Victoria and daughter-in-law Teresa. She is further survived by her sister Evelyn Devlin and her aunt Wanda Martinez and her half-sisters Judy, Loretta, Robin, Barbara, Lisa. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Frances Braddom her brothers Kenneth, Edward Wayne and stepson Victor.

Jean moved to Lincoln Park when she was 7 and lived in the Downriver area for many years. She and Louis then moved to Tennessee to be with her half-sisters and their families. Eventually they moved back to the area where they spent the last 15 years.

She’ll be interred at Michigan Memorial Cemetery at Michigan Memorial Park following the service on Thursday, October 30, 2025. There will be a celebration of life at 2.00 p.m. on April 25, 2026, at Allegria Village.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate you donating to The Lupus Foundation of America, a disease she battled most of her life.
