Obituary
John “Jack” Albert Miller III, a devoted husband, cherished father, and a man whose wisdom, patience, and quiet strength shaped the lives of everyone who loved him peacefully passed away at his home on January 21st , 2026.
Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey to John and Inez Miller, Jack grew up on Gaynor Court in Detroit and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School before graduating from Allen Park High School and later marrying Barbara Mitchell. He was employed for 46 years at Conrail and local 1962 Yardmaster union representative, a role that reflected his reliability, his work ethic, and his ability to guide others with calm, steady leadership.
Jack found great joy in deer hunting, golf, trains, and flying his Cessna. At home, he was a talented cook, a gifted craftsman in stained glass and woodworking, and a true Jack of all trades. But more than anything he built with his hands, it was the lessons he passed down — patience, integrity, problem‑solving, and love — that became his greatest legacy. He didn’t just teach skills — he taught life. Through his example, he showed the value of hard work, kindness, strength, and doing things the right way.
He served his community with pride as a Rockwood City Councilman, Mayor Pro Tem, and President of the Rockwood Lions Club, always committed to giving back and supporting those around him.
Jack’s heart belonged to his wife of 31 years, Ann, and his family. He is survived by his children John (Linda), Michele (Len), Christopher (Leann), Dian (Tom), Paul (Dana), and Andrea (Al). He is preceded in death by his daughter Barb, his son Anthony, his parents John and Inez, and his sister Inez.
He leaves behind grandchildren Nicholas, April, Alexandra, Fred, Jake, Alexandria, Cameron, Andrew, Gabrielle, and Gavin, along with eight great‑grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will carry his light forward.
Jack will be remembered for his generosity, his guidance, his craftsmanship, and the love he shared so freely. His lessons remain in the skills he taught, the lives he touched, and the family who will always carry his memory.
His love was a gift. His wisdom remains.
