Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Eugene Miller, born on February 6, 1940, in Spring City, Tennessee, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 86.

Kenny was a man whose life was filled with the simple joys of music and fishing, passions that brought him peace and happiness throughout his years. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his brother John; sisters-in-law Helen and Beverly; his parents, Ira and Geneva Miller; and his niece Kimberly.

Kenny is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Violet, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. He leaves behind his children, Gary (Shelly) Miller and Pamela (Steven) Leigh, who will forever hold dear the memories of their father. Kenny's legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren: Alexa, Rachel, Jessica, Caitlin, Amber, and Jennifer, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is also survived by his siblings, Raymond, Delora (Paul), and Linda (George), who shared in the bonds of family and love that defined his life.

Kenny's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

In honor of Kenny please feel to make donations to the American Heart Association.

  • Kenneth Miller loved selflessly until his last waking moments, which he spent telling me he loved me, despite the pain he was in and the energy it took to do so. This was fitting. In the 22 years I’ve known him, I never saw him angry, and he always tried his hardest to make sure I didn’t see him struggle during times of hardship. I am his Caitie, he saw me as the little girl that he carried over his shoulder into Cracker Barrel. Yet he showed unwavering support toward every advancement I have made in becoming an independent woman. He always told me that time went by so fast, and to make sure that I enjoy it. Now here I am enjoying it less because I don’t have him to call anymore. It is a selfish grief to have with him being the man that he was to me. He never wanted me to feel bad about anything. I will continue to talk to him, even though he no longer possesses the biological means to speak back to me. The law of conservation of energy says that he is still here, so I believe there is still potential for good conversation. He has been an amazing role model for me, leading by example inside of his kindness, his hard work, modesty, his excitement in his passion for music, his gentle pride, his good attitude, and his stoicism in times of pain. I respect everything about the man I know Kenneth Miller to have been, and I respect his decision to pass. His presence will remain every time I make spaghetti, smell a garage, play checkers, feed a duck, wear a big white t-shirt or wool socks, eat a chocolate donut, and see a squirrel. I will think of him when I hear Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, colors on military bases, and banjos. I will hear his voice every time the thought of giving up or cutting a corner crosses my mind. He reminds me “If it was easy, everyone would do it.” His presence will remain inside of all of the stories he shared of an accomplished life well lived, full of love and pride. Caitlin Leigh
