Marie McGinnis, a beacon of compassion and strength, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 72. Born on November 5, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, Marie dedicated her life to the service of others, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
For over 40 years, Marie served as a registered nurse, specializing in the Intensive Care Unit and various other nursing disciplines. Her commitment to the health care profession was unwavering, and she was both loved and respected by colleagues and patients alike. As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Marie not only provided exceptional care but also shared her knowledge and experience, mentoring countless nurses throughout her career. Her great sense of humor and social nature made her a cherished presence in any room she entered.
Beyond her professional life, Marie was deeply involved in her community and church. A devoted member of The River Bible Church in Rockwood, Michigan, she found joy and purpose in volunteering for various cancer-related causes. Her faith and dedication to helping others were evident in every aspect of her life.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Janice. She is survived by her loving son, Nate McGinnis, and his wife, Kate, along with her treasured grandchildren, Finnley, Fischer, and Lily. Marie also leaves behind her sister, Marlene Gonzales, as well as many dear friends and family members who will miss her dearly.
Marie McGinnis lived a life of service, love, and laughter. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her legacy will endure in the lives she touched.
