Obituary
Barbara Ann Nurenberg, 74, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025.
Barbara dedicated her life to the profession of clinical social work and counseling, serving veterans and her community with compassion and unwavering commitment. She combined professional expertise with heartfelt care, focusing her work on helping the homeless secure housing, guiding individuals in recovery toward stability, and offering hope and dignity to all who sought her support.
Beyond her career, Barbara found joy in gardening, tending to her plants with the same patience and nurturing spirit she shared with people. Her garden was a place of peace and renewal, reflecting her love of nature and her gentle strength.
Her greatest joy was her family. Barbara is survived by her son, Brock (Amy) Nurenberg; her daughter, Elizabeth (Aaron) Nurenberg-Wise; and her beloved grandchildren, Lucy and Margaret Nurenberg, and Arri Wise, who brought her endless happiness.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. She selected an Oak tree to be planted in her remembrance at Michigan Memorial Park. Those wishing to honor her memory may consider donations to organizations and causes near to her heart, including U.S. Veterans, Michigan housing initiatives, community recovery services, or Native American communities.
