Obituary
David "Dave" Charles Spaulding, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 9, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 84. Born on November 30, 1941, in Little Falls, Minnesota, Dave lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion.
Dave was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 25 and dedicated his career to the iron industry, retiring as a respected business agent. His work ethic and commitment to his trade were admired by all who knew him. Following retirement, Dave and Darlene took over Spaulding Catering from his parents and ran that business for 30 years. He had a deep passion for cooking and put his heart and soul into this business.
A man of varied interests, Dave absolutely loved cowboys and westerns, especially John Wayne films. David was also an avid football fan of the Detroit Lions and U of M Football.
Dave was a lifetime member of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club, where he spent many happy hours with friends and fellow members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Adella Spaulding, and his siblings, Dennis Spaulding, Carol Beth Antle, Larry Spaulding, Robert Spaulding, and Gerald (Nina) Spaulding.
Dave leaves behind his beloved wife, Darlene Spaulding, and his children, David "Josh" Spaulding, Jr., Cheryl (James) Welch, and William Seivertson. He was the proud grandfather to Ashley Morr, Jamie Seivertson, and David (Rachel) Welch, and a loving great-grandfather to Jayda Cavin, R.J. Cavin, Norah Morr, and Elijah Welch.
He is also survived by his sisters, Yvonne (Ken) Phifer, Sharon (Bill) Standifer, and Cheryl (Doug) Wysocki; his brothers, Greg Spaulding, Gordon (Grace) Spaulding, and Donald (Nannette) Spaulding; and his sister-in-law, Sandra (Wayne) Green. Dave will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a service at 5:00 PM.
