Obituary

Dorothy Ann Sparks, born on May 18, 1934, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan, at the age of 90. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas J. Sparks, and her five loving siblings. Her life was enriched by her deep love for her family, enjoying shopping trips, and the simple pleasure of car rides.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: Deborah (Sparks) Herrick, married to Robert Herrick; Denise (Sparks) Green, married to Daniel Green; Douglas Sparks, married to Michael Mangone; and Dennis Sparks, married to Heather (Roman) Sparks.

Dorothy was blessed with a vibrant family that includes her cherished grandchildren: Nicole Strait, Ryan Pappas, Robert Herrick, Steve Herrick, Scott Herrick, and Evan Sparks. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren: Lauren VerHulst, Alexis Strait, Olivia Strait, Audra Pappas, Jack Pappas, Roak Herrick, Laken Herrick, Camden Herrick, Greyson Herrick, Finn Herrick, Maxwell Herrick, and Blake Herrick. In recent years, her heart was warmed by the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren, Luke VerHulst and Cole VerHulst.

Dorothy's kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family finds comfort in the countless memories they shared and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind.
