Obituary

LoRayne Ann Shivel, aged 93, passed away on January 16, 2026, in Dundee. Born on June 16, 1932, she lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

LoRayne was truly her own woman, known for her character and independence. She found joy in the great outdoors. Her love for camping, particularly in the summertime where she stayed at her RV resort park home, was matched only by her affection for animals, especially her cherished dogs and cats.

At home, she delighted in "playing house." She loved collecting many trinkets. Music was always close to her heart, with the timeless tunes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin often filling her home. Known for her love of "bling bling" she had a flair for style that added sparkle to every occasion.

A passionate traveler, LoRayne loved exploring new places and creating lasting memories along the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her daughter Cheryl, and her grandson Richard.

LoRayne is survived by her children, Gary (Diana) and Peggy (Cliff), who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Her six grandchildren—Christie (Dan), Steven (Pam), Daniel (Kevin), Jacob (Kara), Jesse (Kallie), Austin and John Darelle, along with her great-grandchildren—Brandon, Tyler, Alyssa, Brayden, Landon, Alayna, Roland, Miller, Kiara Elise, and Henry and son-in-law Roger Hodge (the late Cheryl) will continue to cherish her memory and the many joyful moments shared together.

As her family and friends remember LoRayne, they celebrate a life well-lived, filled with warmth, humor, and an adventurous spirit. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wards of the United States), DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or St. Jude Children’s hospital.
