Richard Eugene Smith, a devoted family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Brownstown. Born on October 31, 1952, in Wyandotte, he lived a vibrant and industrious life, reaching the age of 72 years.
Richard honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, dedicating four years to the service. After his military career, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into owning and operating a successful business, Custom Golf Center in Trenton for 28 years, where he shared his love for the sport with many.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard was passionate about bodybuilding, proudly competing and earning the title of "Mr. England" for his efforts in the 1970’s. His interests extended to the stars, as he was an avid astronomy enthusiast who constructed his own observatory at home. Known for his remarkable ability to fix and build anything, Richard also had a particular fondness for restoring older BMW motorcycles. His adventurous spirit led him to travel to multiple destinations on his motorcycle, relishing the thrill of riding.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Glenn and AnnaLee Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Smith, who was his partner and confidante throughout his life's journey. He leaves behind two cherished children, S. Nigel (Geo Agney) Rogers and Renee (Derek) Herrmann, as well as his treasured grandchild, Jake Herrmann. His siblings, Karen (Glen) Molnar, Nancy (Fred) Cross, Gail (Gary) Bavaird, and Donna (Jim) Delphy, along with many nieces and nephews, will forever hold dear the memories and legacy he leaves behind.
Richard's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his varied interests and talents, and his distinctive character that touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by friends and family alike.
