Obituary

STYLIANOU, Stelios P. Age 80, of Flat Rock, passed away at his residence on April 25th, 2024 with his wife Susan, of 40 years, by his side. He was born on April 20, 1944. The son of Pantelis and Armioni Stylianou. Stelios immigrated from Lefkara Cyprus in the 1960s to London England. He developed a love for cooking and attended a culinary art school. He also loved playing soccer, Greek dancing, and listening to Greek music. He then relocated himself and his family to Dearborn, MI. He began working as a cook, quickly established himself, and opened his first restaurant, Cyprus Gardens in Canton, MI.

Later in 1980, Steve renovated and opened “Town Grill” on Michigan Ave, where he and Susan met for the first time. In the 1990’s, he opened three “Dimitris” restaurants, he owned and operated with his children. He later then opened yet another restaurant “Flat Rock Family Cafe” with his wife Susan and children. He was well known for feeding the homeless for the Thanksgiving holiday, dating back to 1987. He was a wonderful dad, Papou and husband.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Stylianou, daughter, Amy (Chris) Carter, daughter, Sophia (Bob) Wright, daughter, Liza (Joe) Randazzo, son, Andrew (Eleni) Stylianou, daughter, Barbara, (Mike) Parashos, son, Michael Ashley, daughter, Mary (Aron) Bonk- Ashley, son, Stelios Stylianou, daughter, Stephanie Stylianou, son, Pantelis Stylianou, son, Alexander Stylianou, and 18 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren, his brother Andreas (Eleni) Stylianou, and his sister, Vera Gabriel.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Pantelis Stylianou, and his mother Armioni Stylianou. his son, Michael Ashley, brother George Stylianou, sister Cleo Minas, and brother Charlie Stylianou. In leiu of flowers, you can make donations to St. George Greek Orthadox church.

Condolences

  • Mr. Stylianou was the example for all men. He dedicated himself to both his family and to his community. He placed giving before getting. A heart like that can never be duplicated, but hopefully replicated. Mike
