Obituary

Judith Ellen Varcie, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, at the age of 83. Born on August 5, 1941, in Romulus, Michigan, Judy lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Varcie, with whom she shared 36 beautiful years; her parents, Louis and Emma Toth; her brothers, Jerry and Louis Toth; and her sister, Jeanette "Nettie" Nutt. She is survived by her devoted sons, John (Barb) Varcie and Tom (Sue) Varcie. Judy was a cherished grandmother to Kayleigh Varcie, Justin Varcie, Josh (Meghan Pallardy) Varcie, Megan (Reilly Bowen) Varcie, and Liz (Trevor) Mackowiak. She also leaves behind her brother, Rick (Marie) Budop, sister-in-law Josie Figurski, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Her grand-furbabies Noah, Demi, Daisy, Loki, Murph, Barry, and Mulaney will miss her dearly.

Judy dedicated over 30 years of her professional life as a bookkeeper in the automotive field, where her meticulous nature and strong work ethic were highly valued. Outside of work, Judy found joy in bowling, golfing, and gardening. Her green thumb and competitive spirit were well-known among her friends and family. Judy was also an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland, Michigan, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment.

Visitation for Judy will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society - Michigan, in memory of Judy. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Condolences

  • I am so sorry for the passing of your wonderful mom. I shared time with Judy golfing on our golf league, and the extra time after to play nine more holes. She was a wonderful friend, and I have missed our golfing ever since. My deepest sympathy to the Varcie family Thoughts and Prayers MARY HUDSON
  • What a pleasure to know Judy. The most calming attitude, always positive. Family meant everything to her. You didn't have to be blood to be family. I met Judy through my sister. They both worked at macy. When that closed, I helped her get in IKEA. I will surely miss you my friend! Lunch dates won't be the same. Gale Wood
  • My grandma Judy was the sweetest, strongest and most genuine soul that I’ve ever known. I was very lucky to have her has my grandma. I remember spending some weekends at grandma’s house where we would watch movies at night while eating popcorn! Now I know where my love for popcorn comes from. I will always cherish the great memories I had with grandma such as, going to Detroit Tiger’s games or our infamous spot; Garden City Cafe. I love you so much grandma! Your warm, loving, welcoming hugs were my favorite and you will be dearly missed. Elizabeth Mackowiak
  • Sending my condolences to the family. She was a beautiful person, whom loved her family, and friends. Our Macy's Westland family we truly miss her contiguous smile. Simone
  • fond memories of being St. Matthew school moms when our children were growing up. Our sons played ball together and our daughter was confirmed with John. Today right up until two weeks before her death Judy faithfully attended church when she was able. Through her valiant battle with cancer, she never put herself first; it was always "how are you? Are you doing okay." Always thanking God for how she was doing. I admire her strength, courage and faith. She will be missed. Our deepest sympathy, The Hackerd family Judy Hackerd
  • Judy was one of the sweetest, kindest, and best women I have had the pleasure of knowing. I remember training alongside her in my early years at IKEA, and how so very happy she was for me when I got promoted. I had the pleasure of managing her for more than five years, and every single shift was better when she was there. She was so supportive during my engagement, and I always loved hearing of her family, travel, golf, and gardening. I will truly miss her smile and positivity. Rest in peace, Judy. Kelli Garvey
