Nick Manuel Valdez, born on April 1, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 24, 2025, in Woodhaven, Michigan, at the age of 55.
Nick was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent his career in the automotive industry, contributing to the production sector with unwavering commitment.
A true son of Detroit, Nick was a passionate fan of the Detroit Lions, cheering them on through every season with unyielding loyalty. Music was another of his great loves. Nick was also an avid jogger, embracing an active lifestyle that kept him vibrant and full of life.
Nick's social nature and infectious smile could light up any room. He had a remarkable sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression on friends and family alike. His ability to connect with people and make them feel valued was one of his greatest gifts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nick Valdez; sister, Tonya Valdez; grandmother, Betty Puryear; and brother-in-law, Mark Southerland.
Nick leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Madison Valdez; his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Calvin Cross; his sisters, Michelle Valdez and Marci Gonzalez; his brother, CJ (Renee) Cross; and his ex-wife and mother of Madison, Rhonda Valdez. His niece, Shayla Southerland, held a special place in his heart, as she was more like a daughter to him than a niece. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Nick's life will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Michigan Memorial Park.
