Obituary

George A. Wydo, age 78, of Phoenix, Arizona (longtime resident of Lansing/Grand Ledge, Michigan) passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts: his daughters, Sarah Buchanan and Erica Wydo; his cherished grandchildren, Jack Buchanan and Elle Buchanan; and his dear brothers, William (Brenda) Wydo and Franklin (Nancy) Wydo. Preceding him in death are his beloved wife, Peggy Wydo, and his parents, Nick and Irene Wydo.

George enjoyed a distinguished career spanning 31 years at General Motors, where he was known for his commitment and strong work ethic. George was a proud Vietnam Veteran having served on an oil tanker in the Navy.

Beyond his professional life, George was an avid golfer and a passionate sports enthusiast. Oldies music was another of his beloved pastimes, and he often filled his home with the nostalgic tunes.

May he rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton, Michigan on June 16th at 11am. 2530 Charlton Road, Trenton, MI 48183

Condolences

  • I met George around 1990. I was an outside contractor doing work at General motors, rebuilding the turbines and compressors in his plants that he was in charge of. He was very good and knowledgeable of his Powerhouse Plants Equipment. He was such a great all around guy. A great friend for many years even after the plants closed and George retired. Another great friend of ours from Northern Boiler who passed away a couple years ago was Tom Delaney and we would get on 3 way calls with each other and just cut up on each other laughing until our ribs broke. Too funny. George would always get a kick out of those calls. I met his wife and daughters a few times when they were very young and I could tell he was a great father to them and loved them and his wife Peggy very much. Well, you and Tommy must be having a great time in Heaven now laughing. And your with your wife Peggy. I know you missed her after she passed. Love you and miss you brother. God Bless.
