Obituary

Harold Theodore Woods, born on December 29, 1939 in Oteen - Buncombe County NC, received his heavenly reward on April 20, 2025, in Brownstown, MI, at the age of 85. After an incredible journey with the Lord, he left this world surrounded by the love of his family.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Theodore Hamilton and Eliza Marie Woods. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him,
yet his spirit and love continue to inspire us all.

Harold shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife of 59 years, Miriam Lynn Woods, whom he married on June 5, 1965. Together, they built a family deeply rooted in love and faith. He is survived by his dear sister Margarete Woods and cherished children: daughter Aundra Bennett and her husband Jeff, and son Philip Woods and his wife Sallie.

In addition to his children, Harold's legacy includes five treasured grandchildren: Zach Bennett and his wife Emma, Taylor Raymond and her husband Toby, also Elizabeth, Luke, and Isabella Woods. His two great-grandchildren, Declan and Liam Bennett, were a source of immense joy and pride for him.

A Celebration of Life service honoring Harold will be held on Sat, April 26 at 10:00 am at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, located at 30895 W. Huron River Dr., New Boston, with Dr. Welton Wriston officiating. Family and friends are also invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Fri, April 25, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Harold will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park in New Boston, MI.

Harold Woods’ life was a testament to the power of love, family, and his faith in Christ. He touched the hearts of everyone he encountered with his kindness and generosity. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through the lives he impacted as a selfless example of servant leadership.

  • Sending our deepest sympathies to Miriam and the family. When we knew Harold during our years at the Riverview Church of God, we admired and respected him as a leader and Christian brother who had a genuine, gentle and inspiring personality that represented Christ positively at all times. May your memories comfort you along with the Holy Spirit in the days ahead. Love and prayers to you all. Linda and Rick Couture
  • We met Harold and Miriam at the Livonia Church of God. My parents and Harold and Miriam became not only best friends but family. We spent most of our time with them. I frequently babysat Aundra and Phillip. I loved them so much. We moved away from MI but my parents stayed in contact with them until just recently due to health issues. It hurt my heart hearing about Harold but I know he is in heaven and probably having a great time with my dad, Margie Hurley and the others that we have lost from our Livonia Group. Love you Miriam, Aundra and Phillip. You are in my prayers. Natalie McAtee Anderson

  • Sending our heartfelt prayers and condolences to Miriam and the entire Woods family. Harold was a God send to us in 1979 when he provided a job opportunity that would ultimately set our little family on a career path that we’ll be forever grateful for. His benevolence and unconditional love towards us will never be forgotten. Truly a stellar example of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. A race well run, earth’s loss, heaven’s gain! • There are no.words to explain the respect and love I have for Harold and Miriam. Harold was such a Godly man always having a positive word for every situation. Harold helped me so much in my ministry with support I had never know before. His family and we that were blessed to be his friends have lost a truly great man and Heaven gained that same man. Surely the first words he heard were " welcome home son I am so proud of you " when he entered Heaven. Miriam my prayers, love, support and friendship are here for you always . Aundra , Phillip and your families my deepest condolences for your great loss. Sandra Chevalier
  • Harold is a lifelong friend of the Brown family. From the early days of Livonia and Riverview Church of God softball games and church events to working in ministry with my mother (Geraldine) and my father (Eugene). Harold’s name is on the Church of God Headquarters Laymen’s “Wall of Fame” in Cleveland, Tennessee along with my dad. He and Miriam have been at the top of the list of the kindest and most generous people we’ve ever known. Our prayers are for Miriam and the kids along with the multiple thousands of people that were positively affected by the exemplary Christian life they witnessed in Harold Woods! Truly, he has gone on to receive his rewards for a life well-lived for the sake of the Kingdom of God and His Son Jesus Christ! Bishop Ronald D. Brown
