CREMATION BURIAL OPTIoNS AT MICHIGAN MEMORIAL PARK:
Lighthouse Niches
Located on the banks of the Huron River, this 35 foot tall lighthouse has a working beacon that can be seen from many points in the park. In the lighthouse and its surroundings, are secure spaces that hold up to four people that wish to be cremated. Each space comes with a custom 8" x 8" stainless steel plaque that is designed by the family.
One of the unique structures at Michigan Memorial Park is the Niche Lighthouse columbarium. This columbarium is the perfect place to bury an urn with a sailor's ashes and is a source of local pride as it is the only columbarium of its kind in America.
The 35-foot lighthouse itself, is made of one type of granite and the wall surrounding the lighthouse with niches is made of another. The Columbarium is located on the scenic banks of the Huron River and is an active lighthouse, giving light signals from morning until the cemetery closes.
There are spaces in the Lighthouse itself and in the surrounding wall where 4 urns of ashes can be buried at once. The niches are covered with stainless steel plaques, which are customized by the family.
At the back of the Lighthouse columbarium is an observation deck where loved ones and guests can admire the scenic view and meditate.
You can order a columbarium niche for 4 urns to share the resting place of the entire family side by side in the future.
